Room 205, Monday Morning
Rhys had been blissfully unaware of anything weird going on in town this past weekend. He'd been engrossed in finishing up the work on a rudimentary arm so he could at least have two hands to build a better one. Or maybe another ECHO eye...
Whatever. It'd get made.
If he could work out how to get this arm slotted into place without having to contort himself like a circus performer.
"Son of a bitch, c'mon," he muttered, having to reach across his body with his arm in an attempt to see what he was getting hung up on. Which meant a lot of frowning and jamming his hand into his shoulder socket.
Of course.

Equal levels of weird in his book.

Also, the guy she was talking to was missing an arm and an eye. But that felt rude to point out.
"What's Hyperion?" See, Rhys was right!
no subject
And he wasn't missing either of them. He knew exactly where they were.
"It's... the most powerful company around," Rhys said a bit sadly. But he recovered admirably.
no subject
Ah, video games about eeevil super-powerful companies that made guns and cops and stuff.
no subject
"The what?" He liked to think he had a pretty good handle on all rivals of Hyperion, after all.

Or not. Because he soooorta, kiiiiinda killed the company's Pandora base of opetations.
"Oh, man. I can't see any companies back home working like that." Because of the murder and all. "Hyperion would be the top of the heap there, I guess. Guns, tech, shields..."

Also the CEO kiiinda had Faith's parents killed and kidnapped her baby sister. It was a thing.
"So it makes no sense that no one's ever heard of them, and I get to feel like I'm going crazy, which is fun."
no subject
"Right?" he asked with too much excitement. "And everyone thinks it's just soooo easy to adapt to craziness."
Instead of the logical, video game worlds they came from.
no subject
"And it's not! I thought I was an adaptable person but that was before I took a class taught by a talking dog," she groused. "It's so good to hear I'm not the only one."

"And of course my 'big sibling'-" the air quotes were coming out - "wasn't any help. I mean, she was nice, but she basically told me magic is real."
Interesting stance from a girl who had a dog as a teacher.

At least sirens could be explained with science. Maybe. He hadn't really looked into it because sirens were terrifying.

She would stick her hand out for a handshake but his seemed otherwise occupied.

"Not a bad handshake, considering," she told him, smirking a little. "Nice grip."

You know, help jam his arm into place.
no subject
"Just know this is the weirdest thing a guy has ever asked me to do," Faith let him know as she manhandled his arm into place. She probably could have been a little more gentle with it, sorry Rhys. "And I've lived in dorms with guys since I was seven."
