There was a dance tonight, so Rhys was trying to decide between one skinny tie or the other. Because he liked skinny ties, okay? They were his signature look along with not having a sleeve on one side so he could show off his awesome robotic arm.

The important thing was that he believed those were the case, really.

But hey, at least he wasn't a llama for it. NEVER SORRY ABOUT THAT, KUZCO.

Since the fiasco in the common room, Xanthippe had faked being sick over Valentine's Day. (And, by the way, find you know how hard it was to so that over social media? Because it was.) But there'd been a lot of passive pressure since then. Somehow, her NYC friends were managing to milk the holiday for all that it was worth.

Xanthippe was not at all good at holding up under pressure.

Which explained the way she unceremoniously stormed in with a suit and other things over one arm. "Oh my God, what are you doing? Skinny ties, seriously?"

"What's wrong with skinny ties?" They were long enough that even this giraffe looking noodle could tuck them him into his pants.

RHYS, WHY?

"They look dumb," Xanthippe told him, bluntly. "They make you look uncool and you can't look uncool because I'm being ridiculed enough as it is."

No one was actually ridiculing her outright, but she knew. It was in the emojis!

Xanthipe squinted at him. "Is that like a new app or...?"

Rhys just gave her a suspicious look right on back.

"No."

"Oh thank God, I thought I'd missed something." A beat. "Not that you'd be likely to know about something before me."

Great job with the vague insults, Xan.

"Anyway, your skinny ties aren't gonna go with this suit."

"Um, I'm from space. I know plenty that you don't," Rhys replied snidely. "And I like my ties."

"Well they suck." So there. "I brought options that are like, way better."

"Uh huh," she replied, because maybe he needed some encouragement with this clearly troubling time of having to repeat what she'd just said. "To go with this suit."

"You're a llama, I don't have to listen to your fashion advice," said the guy who was torn between two ever so slightly different shades of red for his tie.

A beat.

"And I hate you."

"Right back atcha, skippy," Kuzco drawled. "So why this sudden change into caring what you look and smell like?"

They had the best relationship of all the roommates on island. It was filled with love and caring.

"There's a dance. And I always care about how I look and smell. You're just jealous that I have fingers and toes."

Kuzco rolled his eyes. "Is this more about the peasant holiday thing?"
